Returnal was released last year exclusively for the PlayStation 5, and it was met with wide critical praise. The challenging gameplay made for a fun and sometimes frustrating experience. Now, almost a year after the game was originally released, it will be getting a free update known as Returnal Ascension. Here is everything we know about it.
Returnal Ascension isa free update for Returnalannounced at PlayStation’s March 2022 State of Play that adds more content to the game. The biggest thing being added with the update isa new Survival mode. This mode will send you into an endless tower—known as the Tower of Sisyphus—in which you fight off waves of enemies while climbing higher and higher. The update gets its name in this mode as you try to fight your way up the tower and seek ascension.

Another big feature being added with the update is theco-op campaign. Players can nowlink up with another playerto try and survive the enemies of Atropos. This co-op mode will be limited to online therefore local co-op via split-screen will not be available. The Tower of Sisyphus added with this update will also not be playable in co-op.
