There were many things that both LEGO and Star Wars fans were thrilled to see in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The game features large open world areas, space battles, and even a skill tree. While some mechanics are only par for the course for LEGO games, some of these features have already been seen in other Star Wars titles.

Parrying/Counter Attacks

The ability to parry or counter attack enemies is a newly added feature to the LEGO games and is evidently able to be used by several characters. While deflecting blaster fire has been seen previously, this mechanic seems inspired byStar Wars: Fallen Orderwhich was compared to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for its parry system. Although it’s not a perfect comparison, there are some similarities between them.

Space Battles

Star Wars: Squadronsis the most recent example of space battles in Star Wars games, however, there are many others that capitalized on this. LEGO Star Wars really seems to be trying to combine every popular element of these titles for their combat in space with an impressive HUD straight out of Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

Skill Trees And Allocation

With the inclusion of a Skill Tree, the LEGO game really seems to be paying tribute to the popular RPG,Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicor KOTOR for short. In the game, players could assign points to different Skills, Abilities, and Stats to improve their characters. Each character could be customized this way to play to their strengths or have a team full of lightsaber wielding melee attackers.

Tossing Enemies With Force Push

Many gamers during the PlayStation 2 and Xbox era of games will remember the intro sequence toStar Wars: The Force Unleashed. Players took control of Darth Vader before switching to Starkiller and were fully equipped with powerful Force abilities. Most notably,Force Pushwas hilariously used to throw even allied Stormtroopers in the distance.

First Person Shooting

While not unique to Star Wars, the LEGO game really seems to be trying to go for a new way to explore and fight. Stealth, over the shoulder, and first person options really seem to blend together elements of theBattlefrontseries and even theJedi Academyseries of games.
