In case you were wondering, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is thesuccessorto Assault on Dragon Keep, the DLC that launched under Borderlands 2 back in 2013. Wonderlands is set shortly after the events of the latter, therefore making ita sequel. Or, at least on paper.
That being said, youdo not need to playAssault on Dragon Keep to get the gist of Wonderlands. Despite having the same explosive-obsessed narrator at the helm, both stories areunconnected.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is set inThe Wonderlands, a full-scale continent that boasts 14 unique regions to explore and quest in. Assault on Dragon Keep, on the other hand, takes place on Borderlands 2’sPandora.
As a D&D-inspired experience, Wonderlands' story is built to accommodate the unknown. Tiny Tina, being an unpredictable character who is hell-bent on conjuring the impossible, uses creativity to craft a whole new scenario. With that, you can expect a lot of new material when stepping into Wonderlands.
