You will first need toscan the machine with your focus. This will highlight all the available components on the machine. you may thenmark the component with Triangle, and it will remainhighlighted in Pink. You can then use abow or any weapon with tear damageto shoot the specific componentdirectly. Attacking from stealth can help you line up the shot and use the concentration skill by pressing R3. Some components may require multiple shots.

If you’re looking for specific machine components to use in the upgrade, you cancreate a job in the workbench by pressing Triangle. This will create a job in your journal and a map marker of where you can find that machine. You can also get machine components as rewards forcompleting the hunting ground challenges.
You can also view specific machines, their components, strengths, and weakness in themachine cataloguein your menu. This can help you identify where on a machine you can find specific components without having to be near the machine, or worry about being attacked in the open world.
